The Grounding studio
For a long time, I have dreamed of weaving together all that I have gathered in my basket and creating a space that caters to women. I am in awe of women—our intuition, our cycles, our initiations, and our softness in strength; our fierce lioness hearts and deep knowing.
When I was contemplating what to call this space, my manfriend jokingly said, "Well, it must have the word 'grounding' in it. You always talk about grounding!"
It’s not a lie. I talk about grounding a lot, and anyone who has been in one of my spaces knows that I always start with a grounding practice, whether it’s a pranayama exercise, a meditation, or a release practice.
When I was younger, it was very easy for me to make contact with the higher realms. I am a dreamer, a dancer—high up on my feet and in the air. Grounding myself, however, was a different story; this did not come naturally to me. When I was living in The Hague at 17 years old, my host mom would lovingly remind me to stamp my hooves on the ground a few times when she saw me fall down the last steps of the stairs again. She was right. I would be so busy with everything I "had" to do—rushing through my days, living in my daydreams, and thinking about everything except the present moment. Stamping my feet on the ground was a quick way to get myself back into the present moment.
The grounding practices I use now have evolved a bit further than stamping my feet on the ground, although I still use it sometimes when I need a quick way to re-center myself. We often lose contact with ourselves in our busy lives. We focus on getting from point A to point B. We surround ourselves with other people and their opinions. We meditate to connect to the higher realms or to gain insights into certain matters. We often meditate upwards instead of downwards.
I believe, especially as women, our power lies in descending rather than ascending. It’s about making contact with our hearts, and from there, our womb space—energetically and physically, the source of creation. It’s about connecting with our first and lowest chakra, the Muladhara Chakra. It’s about making contact with Gaia, the goddess of the Earth, and with the womb of the Earth—the center. For this is where our true foundation lies: where we can be held in our own masculine strength, so we can dance and weave our lives with our intuitive feminine flow without becoming uncentered.
In this heart letter I have included a link to a 8-minute grounding meditation that I made especially for you. It will help guide you into a more grounded way of being. Please click on the link below to access it.
As always, I would love to hear from you and meet with you in one of my spaces. Please see my offerings below by clicking on the button: work with me. Feel free to reach out with any comments, questions or love!
