A Pilgrimage to Celtic Lands and Diving into Ancient Wisdom
I bow deeply to the women who came before me. I feel their presence in my bones, their songs flowing through my blood while they wove their stories and shared their wisdom over crackling fires and endless chores.
One song has been calling me for a while now. A song of remembrance, of sacred sites and healing springs. Of the wind howling around me while I walk through the moors and sing my prayers into the mist. Celtic lands are whispering to me, and when an opportunity arose to come to the moors and learn an ancient traditional massage technique, I didn’t hesitate, I paid in full.
I spent a glorious week being held by the Yorkshire Moors and an intimate circle of seven women, learning all about traditional reproductive massage techniques and supportive botanicals. I took part in a practitioner training in Mizan Therapy. This therapy goes far beyond what I expected when signing up. It is a technique that sweeps you into a holistic journey, combining physical practice with small lifestyle changes that address much more than just the body.
Mizan is an Arabic word for balance, and that is exactly what this technique supports. It helps balance the physical structures; your digestive system, muscles and ligaments, reproductive organs, and hormones. Balancing the physical elements influences your emotional state (hello, hormones), and vice versa. Within the session journey, there is a true homecoming to your body, a deepening connection with your (energetic) womb space, the place of all creation.
This therapy is for any woman (men can receive it too, but my practice focuses on women) who feels a sense of imbalance in her life. This can stem from deep grief, cyclical problems, PCOS, endometriosis, (in)fertility, a history of sexual assault, prolapse, menopausal symptoms, and more.
To become a fully certified Mizan Practitioner, I am looking for four women to treat and review as case studies, women who experience one or more of the above-mentioned imbalances, or another reason why you feel called to work with me through this technique.
This technique found me through my own fertility journey.
For my Dutch-speaking readers, I have started sharing more about this journey on my Substack. A place where I’ve begun the Fertility Diaries: honest reflections on the path from Maiden to Mother when getting pregnant is not something that just happens. A place I hope other women will find recognition, connection, inspiration and realize they are not alone on this journey.
As always, I would love to hear from you, and thank you for taking the time to read my musings.
With love,
Anna
